We already know that fruits and vegetables are essential every day in our diet, but we can still learn what properties they have to make the most out of them. For example, in the same way that some of them activate and give us energy, so they are ideal to take in the morning, others are much more beneficial at night, since they have properties that help us relax our body.

In this article we explain which fruits and vegetables are recommended to eat in the afternoon or evening, so that your snacks and your dinners are relaxing and help you maintain a balanced weight and health.

Lettuce

It may surprise us, but lettuce is a vegetable with relaxing and aphrodisiac properties, an ideal combination to take before going to bed. A good varied salad, with some nuts and fresh cheese, especially in summer, is a light and nutritious dinner. For cold seasons or for those who do not digest the lettuce well at night, we recommend trying to cook it to make soups or vegetable creams. In this way we can enjoy its benefits by changing the recipe often. We can also include lettuce in vegetable smoothies or gazpacho.

In addition, there are many types of lettuce. The least beneficial is the iceberg variety , since it has a lot of water, few properties, and it is also very flatulent. Instead, we recommend those that are dark green and even purple, richer in nutrients and antioxidants, such as the Roman or oak variety .

Finally, there is a last way to take the lettuce to fight insomnia and improve rest: preparing an infusion with its leaves. We’ll have a cup of tea and a cup before going to bed.
