The swollen eyelids are not just an aesthetic issue. In fact, they are the reflection that the kidneys and the liver are usually overloaded. Many people suffer in the morning, when they wake up, but others usually have them, which makes them sick and tired.
In this article we explain some natural remedies to fight swollen eyelids and also some recommendations to help balance the kidneys and liver.
With poor diet, excessive fat and fried, the kidneys are overloaded and the body can not eliminate excess fluid from the body, causing retention in different parts of our body, such as the legs, face or eyelids. When you wake up one day with your eyelids swollen, we recommend that during the morning you exclusively consume onion broths, until the body can eliminate the excess of liquids.
To prepare it you can boil two onions in a liter and a half of water for thirty minutes and let stand another 10 minutes. It is preferable not to add salt, although you could add a splash of seawater, which despite having a salty taste helps us regulate body fluids thanks to all the minerals it contains. Sea water can be purchased in herbalists, dietitians and some supermarkets.
To this broth you could also add celery, and another alternative would be infusions of horsetail, which also has a very potent diuretic function.
- Fasting : a glass of warm water, the juice of half a lemon and a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil.
- Breakfast : Fruit smoothie with vegetable drink, nuts, brewer’s yeast.
- Mid morning: infusion of and dandelion optionally sweetened with stevia
- Food : Green salad with
- Mid afternoon : infusion of milk thistle and dandelion optionally sweetened with stevia. Baked apple with cinnamon and honey
- Dinner : vegetable cream with oatmeal and omelet
It is important that dinner is early, since late dinners contribute to overload the liver.
Cucumber, both consumed and applied, is a great diuretic, ideal for always suffering fluid retention. In addition to consuming the cucumber in salad or juice, we recommend you lay down thirty minutes with two slices of cucumber on the eyelids. After fifteen or twenty minutes you can take them off and wash your face with cold water.
The raw potato is a great anti-inflammatory, and if we do not have cucumber we can also choose to place two slices of raw potato over the closed eyes for at least 20 minutes.
Camomile tea bags
Another remedy to place over the eyelids for a while, which also helps to decongest the eyes when we have reddened and irritated , is to take the tea bags of chamomile that have been used, put them in the freezer and apply them to our eyes closed when they are already cold. In addition, the pleasant sensation will help us to relax at the end of the day.
Drink a lot of water
Let’s not forget that the best way to eliminate fluids and help the kidney is by drinking water throughout the day. We should only remember that it is essential that the water is not cold and that we drink it outside of the meals, since otherwise it would have the opposite effect and could be harmful. If it costs us to drink water we can add a little lemon juice and stevia, so it will be a much more appetizing lemonade.
